Jeans Art cc was established by James Musoke-Lule, a Ugandan Artist residing in Cape town, South Africa.

After involving himself in doing sculpture in wood, terracotta, bronze and P.O.P, since his graduation in 1990, he embarked on painting in Oil On Canvas in 1994.

It was after coming to South Africa in 2007 that he came up with a new method of working by highlighting the dark painting support mainly of acrylic on Denim with small dotted pixels to come up with various forms and expressions.

This method takes the viewer from the usual way of looking at painting from positive into the negative, to looking at it in reverse –from the negative into the positive.

The plain dark background gives an eternal depth which scale may not be easily determined by the eye. The method tagged “pointillism” lets the eye of the viewer mix the many dots of raw colours into settled mature colours which are finely perceived by the viewer.

The choice of material (the unconventional canvass of denim), the method (the unusual small pixel dots)and the expressive topics handled, make Musoke-Lule’s work stand out strongly unique.

His work comes out in a big range of sizes, from 25cm x 20cm to 200cm x 150cm.

Musoke-Lule has been involved in various Art exhibitions in Uganda, Kenya and South Africa. He has patrons from many countries of the World. Some of his work can be found at Mandela Rhodes Place (The Rainbow Experience), Pan African Gallery and Zaire Gallery.

He currently runs a gallery/studio under Jeans Art CC, at 112 Long Street Cape Town, South Africa.
